City of John Day

John Day seen from airport hill
John Day is located at the intersection of highways 26 and 395 in Grant County, Eastern Oregon. Surrounded by the Blue Mountains and the Strawberry Mountains, John Day rests within a few minutes of some of the best fishing, hunting and hiking (and firefighting) anywhere. Several small communities are dotted along the John Day valley, including Prairie City, John Day, Canyon City and Mount Vernon.
Although not the big city, there are modern conveniences available in John Day, and it is only a few hours to Boise, ID or Bend, OR. If you love the outdoors and hate traffic, you'll fit right in.
John Day has a full service supermarket, golf course, several parks, a sports complex, public pool, a handful of restaurants and shops, hosts the County Fair and the Demolition Derby (in which the crew regularly enters a car... hell yeah!) and as mentioned above is within minutes of forest access.

The crew offers Government housing to our detailers (and when able, a small number of temp-seasonal employees), and for temps, there are rental opportunities in each of the communities mentioned above. Seasonal employees usually go in together to rent a house for the summer. More information on rental opportunities can be found here.
